1st Anniversary

One year ago today I started this blog. (Jeeze, couldn't we think of another word, other than BLOG ? What an ugly word.)

Time sure does fly.

Anyway, it's been fun being able to ramble on here about the elements of life that interest me, and hopefully interest others as well.

I really have no idea how many people take a look at this. I don't have a counter set up. The only way I know if people are reading are the comments to my posts, which really don't happen all that often.

For those people reading, I hope you've enjoyed and found the content useful and meaningful.

Wishing you all the best-

~JB

alright, a little off topic but i just discovered your blog (read through the entire thing in the past hour or so and it's great) and i have a question so i figured i'd post it on the most recent post... how'd you pick your size for you 1947 501's? i bought mine true to size a couple months ago and they're still tight as hell. did yours stretch out any?

Mony-
Picking the correct size of LVC 1947s can be very tricky. One, because you have to account for the shrinkage, and two, because the actual waist sizes differ from year to year. Your best bet is to call the shop you're buying from (if you can't get there) and ask them to measure the actual waist size for you. Figure the jeans the shrink 2 inches or so in the waist in your first soak, but then stretch back out another inch over time, with wear. If I had to err, I'd err on the side of being too big, since you can always try to shrink them down more with additional hoat soaks. You don't want to lay out 2 bills in dough for a pair of jeans that's so tight you can't wear them. Hope that helps! Good luck.

PS- You can also check out the J. Crew Levi's XX Slim Fit 501s (which are pretty much the exact same thing as the 47s). The J. Crew version has already been washed once and shrunken down so you can buy your actual waist size. You can try these on at the J. Crew Men's shop at 484 Broadway in NYC if you are in the area.

If only I had recieved your advice sooner lol. I bought my STF '47s TTS when they were on sale online 2 months ago. Got them, they were pretty tight, and the next size up was sold out already. I figured I'd keep them, hoping they'd stretch out like APCs but haven't had any luck. I don't know if I should keep trying or of it's a lost cause. Thanks anyways.
