Beeswax

I've always been a much bigger fan of brown shoes rather than black, especially after seeing how the Italians make a charcoal suit POP with the right pair of brown shoes.

The Fall always makes me long for new brown shoes. This year is no different.

My success with Clarks Desert boots thru the spring and summer has led me to jones for these :

The desert boots have served me well with both denim and khakis. And for around $80, I like 'em lots.
Will try to hold off till September....

I'm not sure if the brown soles on the J Crew version is worth the extra money. The light sole on the Clark's gets dirty. It is, however, the bottom of a shoe, so it probably should get dirty. I'll be picking up a pair of these at some point in the next month or so. How is the support/comfort of these?

I have a pair of the J.Crew ones in suede from about four years ago and they are great. Definitely a favorite of mine. Since they are suede they only get worn in the summer and fall; winter and spring are too wet for suede.

I'm looking for something like them for winter; let me know how the Clarks fit and what the leather is like.

Jason: I'm very flat flooted and I find these to be pretty decent in the support area.

They're comfortable, yes. I wouldn't want to walk 40 city blocks in them, but they'll do for a day of moderate wear.

The new J Crew version (oiled leather) looks great on the website, but I also don't see the added value in the $138 price tag.

J Crew Guy: The Clarks fit pretty similar to the J Crew version. I have a pair of the Macalister boots as well, and I actually prefer the Clarks.

From what I remember seeing in-store, the leather on these Beeswax babies seems a bit tough...needs some good breaking in. If you search for pix of the beeswax, you can see some great worn-in pix. They look great after some good wear.

I'm a big fan of the Clarks Desert Trek which has a seam up the middle of the shoe: in beeswax leather and suede. Always get compliments on them

Way late post, but nordstrom rack gets these regularly for $50-60 a pair. Got a pair of beeswax shipped from piperlime for $70. Personally I don't think they are worth much more than that, but are cool regardless.
